The only difference is when you get source skills in act two, that use the points on your portrait you unlock when getting rid of the collar. It doesn't matter what skill the book if for, only the governing school. But Ice fan and mosquito swarm? Blood rain. So Rain and blood sucker make Blood rain. Combine one physical book with one magic book and you get THE combined skill from those two schools. So basically Pyro, Geo, Hydro and Aero are magic and the rest are physical. Split all your skillbooks based on physical/magic.
